GQRP Virtual Convention 2021

The Convention took place over the weekend of the 4th and 5th of September.
Registrations were up on 2020 and attendances were generally higher too. We had members from all three IARU Regions attending and presenting.
We had a few bumps in the road with Zoom updating their software about one hour before we started and a couple of the presenters had to be changed at the last minute. However, the feedback was extremely positive; many enjoyed the on-air activity period and there were many suggestions to do more of that in 2022.

All of the presentations were recorded and are now available to all via the Club’s YouTube channel:

The Committee would like to record a huge vote of thanks to all who were involved in the planning and delivery of the Convention. It really was a massive team effort.

Conventions in 2022
The Club will be involved in two QRP Conventions in 2022. We hope that these will be physical meetings, with some on-line access.

The first is being organised by members in Northern Ireland and will be at the Tandragee Golf Club on Saturday 25 June. The plan is to have a series of talks and a Buildathon with the Club callsign being activated as GI5LOW for the first time. It is not yet clear if any of this event will be made available via live streaming, but we will see what can be done.

The second will be in conjunction with the Telford Hamfest over the first weekend in September. We also expect to have a Buildathon and a number of talks with G5LOW in operation. We fully intend to have an on-line presence so members who are unable to attend can join in remotely.

More info on both events will follow in the Spring SPRAT.

The program for the 2021 convention has been preserved so that you can see what an amazing event that it was.

As promised during this years convention, the Club has made all the presentations available on our YouTube channel and made them widely available to the rest of the Club membership and the wider radio amateur community - but those who registered for the convention got the benefit of the early release.
